I chose the subject of clownphobia because I grew up being afraid of clowns. I think those clown faces that look happy are actually vicious and evil. I think it’s weird that they’re behaving like humans but not like normal people. In addition, there are a lot of movies about clowns, but what they have in common is that clowns are all negative characters with dark hearts.

I planned to go to some museums about clowns or toys to look for some relevant research, but unfortunately, I searched these places on Google Maps, and they all showed closed. So I decided to finish watching clown-related movies and find some interesting scenes in the movies. I also plan to use photos from an exhibition I saw in Shanghai, China, early last year as my first-hand research. It was an exhibition about horror dolls and clown puppets. I think its overall theme and atmosphere are very suitable for my topic. I will also search the Internet to find out why people are afraid of clowns and what caused this situation in the first place. Of course, clown costumes and makeup are also very important factors. I would search the Internet and my own photo albums for clown costumes and accessories to research.

My first choice for BA is Womenswear and my second choice is Fashion Design and Development. Therefore, IN this project, I will pay attention to the development of clothing profile and conduct 3D experiments on Mannequin. Those experiments led to more interesting sketches. I want to integrate stories about clowns into this work to enrich the connotation of my work.

I want to work for the clothing brand ViktorAndrolf in the future. I really appreciate its “Surreal Shoulder” collection for spring/summer 2022. I think it is exaggerated and a little gothic, which is the type I like and want to develop.
