Week 5

This week’s workshop is mainly about sketch and development after the 3D experiment of last class. I draw them all first, and then change them accordingly, such as making them longer or shorter, repeating them many times or simplifying them. I developed about 6 different profiles per Mannequin for future pruning.
Since my first 3D experiments were all made of pleats of different sizes, it would be a little messy to draw them all. I finally chose several relatively interesting shapes to create again, making them look clearer and more generous.
I also made several digital collages. Take inspiration from these collages and create more.

I think my weakness is that I don’t have too much fabric experiment on Mannequin. If I had more time, I would definitely do more.

I also went to bond Street this week to see the Alexander McQueen Collection. It was a women’s clothing show about flowers. It was really stunning. McQueen has always been one of my favorite brands, and I especially love its high-end, atmospheric and elegant silhouettes and color choices. Here are some of my favorites:

The design process of these gowns is also displayed, and I can learn a lot of professional knowledge by watching these processes carefully.
